ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT

Prince George's County faces a structural deficit in the coming years that requires us to promote economic development policies that will expand the commercial tax base.

These policies will remove barriers that discourage some from doing business in Prince George’s County, increase government transparency, and reform our County's procurement protocols.  We must send a clear signal that Prince George’s County is open for business!

A PLAN FOR ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT

Remove common barriers that make it difficult for local entrepreneurs to launch their small businesses Institute transparency in County processes to give entrepreneurs and employers certainty that Prince George's is a fair and efficient place to do business.

Incentivize 21st-century employers to set up shop in Prince George's. Fast food chains are good, but they do not offer employment opportunities that are able to give our students and residents a living wage to support themselves and their families.  Health Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Biotech, Coding, Nanotechnology firms, etc. should be our highest priority.

Reforming the County's procurement protocols to be sure that taxpayer dollars are being spent wisely, free from improper influences, and awarded to companies that represent the best value to the people of Prince George's County. A Chief Procurement Officer should be appointed to align spending and institute processes that allow the County to effectively use federal and state funds.
