It is my distinct honor to commend to the citizens of Prince George’s County, Paul Monteiro for County Executive. I have worked with Paul over the last 10 years on a wide range of issues facing citizens across this great nation.

Throughout my more than 30 years of community engagement, I have met no finer servant leader than Paul Monteiro. He as a heart for people and a commitment to justice. When it comes to public service, Paul’s scale leans heavily toward the “service” side. He is not concerned about recognition but just wants to get the job done. And get the job done he does! He is a tireless worker, who does not relax until the task is completed.

As Director of Faith-Based Initiatives for the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc., I was privileged to work with Paul in his capacity as Associate Director of Public Engagement for the Obama White House. In each area of responsible charge, Paul proved himself to be a passionate advocate for those whom he served.

30 years ago, I met a young Community Organizer named Barack Obama and we began a journey together to change the world for the better. I always thought that one sees that kind of public servant “once in a lifetime.” However, I see that same spirit of service in Paul Monteiro. Prince George’s County will be tremendously blessed with Paul as your County Executive. I urge you to vote for him.

United States Ambassador to the African Union (2009-2013)

It is a tremendous honor to endorse Paul Monteiro for Prince George's County Executive. Paul is a person of deep personal and professional integrity. During my service as U.S. Ambassador to the African Union, I found Paul to be a person with a deep interest in the positive role international investment plays in expanding economic opportunities for local, state, and national communities.

As County Executive, Paul will provide opportunities for Prince George's County to expand positive growth and development. As a talented attorney and community activist, Paul provided expert leadership of the Department of Justice Office of Community Relations Service. Paul was among the most trusted leaders in the Obama Presidential Campaign and Administration.

In additional to his professional excellence, Paul is a person with authentic compassion for expanding opportunities for Prince George's County.

Former White House Chief of Staff to President Barack Obama

I got to know Paul while campaigning for Barack Obama's first campaign in Davenport, Iowa.  He was part of a dynamic team working to engage people of faith in the effort.  After the election, we worked together again at the White House where I served as Deputy National Security Advisor and later as Chief of Staff to President Obama.  

Paul was a great colleague in engaging the broadest swath of faith communities across the country. Following President Obama's historic Cairo address in 2009, Paul was a key partner in building the effort toward comprehensive engagement with American Muslim communities.  

He is truly a collaborative leader and someone who has my full support as the next Prince George's County Executive. 

I’m proud to endorse my friend Paul Monteiro as the next Prince George’s County Executive.  From our time working together in President Obama’s White House I know him to be a capable leader and a champion of progressive values who understands the importance of including communities too often marginalized and left behind. 

He has shown that he will fight tirelessly to address the concerns and inequities facing women, working people, and the under-served. As someone who takes seriously a concern for integrity and the human condition, I know that Paul is the best choice to chart a bold new course that includes all Prince Georgians.
